About my Mustang

-What i have is a 1988 mustang 5.0 hatchback mustang that when i got it was in TERRIBLE condition. It had an automatic with nothing really special in the car BUT now iv been working on the car for about Five straight years now and its to other people, "perfect" but to me it will never be done!
-The story is that i got this guy in my town who at the time had a couple of mustangs and all my life i had wanted one so bad so when i had turned fifteen years old i did something about it. I was now old enof to start looking for a job so that i did with no help at all. I worked every day after school for months and still at the age of fifteen took all the money i made, about two grand, and went to the guy with all the mustang in town and started shopping.
-I went through all nine mustangs he had there and found one i thought i could go crazy with. It was a ugly redish 1988 5.0 hatchback mustang that was beat to hell, not really what i went there looking for. From what could see the hole left side was hit and the quarter panel was only half way repaired and the front bumper was the same case.
-So here i was 15yo and without my parents even knowing, i had got this guy to sell me this car, and for an amazing deal sort of. I talked him down to only $920.00 dollors. To me it was amazing but still before i could pay him and take it, there was still more wrong with it. It had the driveshaft taken out, the radiator taken out, same with the steering column and some of the dash, so i made a deal with the guy that for an even $1000.00 dollors, he put it all back together because he did have the parts all laying around and surprisingly he jumped for the idea. I came back two days later an amazingly it was all back together but also it was weird it had gotten done that fast but still i bought it and drove it illegally across town to my freinds house to where it was to stay for six months because this hole time i had plan to hide it from my parents as long as possible.
-When i was sixteen and i had made alot more money in those past months and since i couldn't get my license till i was 18teen in my state, to me that gave me two years to build a crazy mustang but its been alot longer then two years since. So i started and my hole plan was that i was going to go big or go home kind of thing and so what i did about it was i went and got $1000.00 dollors and drove four hours north to this place in the hills and i bought off this guy a 1970 something 351 Windsor 4 Bolt Main that was, bored .30 over, port and polish heads, cam, distributor, THE WORKS.
-Where im from thats really rare for the amount i had bought it for. But i did look for the engine for almost a year. That was how the project started and with me only knowing about mustangs from being around them and now the motor is in the car and my parents now know about the hole thing but i did keep it away from them for three years, not bad, it just was i just couldnt keep working on it at my freinds house and having a tow truck keep picking up the car for work and then droping it off again, because i was putting every pennie i could make into it and i was doing a hole lot of work myself. so pretty much we had taken over my freinds yard with stuff everywhere.
-Im 21yo now and i put Five grand into the motor alone since and also about six grand for about everything else including a c4 trans with transbrake, aluminum drive shaft, new motor mounts, 4:10 gears, new 4-lug cobra rims, new steering column, suspension lowering kit, new brake pads and steeda calipers, totally redone interior, and alot more.
-I'v taken a total of 178lbs est. out of the car and im still looking for more to take out. Theres no a/c, power steering, radio, backseat, foglights and anything else that didnt help me at the track. Its set up to run like a drag car but i still drive it on the street, and yes i got it to pass DMV inspection. But thats another story.
-About nine mounths ago i had a buddy of mine who had a nice body shop do a beautiful ferrari paint job to the mustang. It was sand blasted and all body panels where fixed the right way and everything. I installed a rare 4inch Supermach hood and had all the door jams andother hidden spots painted. They did two nice coats of paint and THREE coats of clear. Unfortunately i never got a chance to do the engine bay cause the motor at the time had just got put in and i didnt have the extra money for them to find a way to paint around it so i left it and till today i still regret it and out of the hole project thats about the only thing i regret and all in all it stands today to me as a peice of art work and a young mans dream and hard work come true.
